Join the University of Maryland College of Agriculture & Natural Resources and the AGNR Alumni Network for a night on the farm! 

Held on the Central Maryland Research and Education Center - Clarksville Facility, this casual farm to table event will include a picnic dinner, wagon tour and showcase of the research and education happening at the facility. Connect with faculty, staff, alums and family, enjoy a delicious meal and support AGNR student clubs at the silent auction. 

The University of Maryland Extension Dorchester County Office will host a kids' spring fling event at the Cambridge Library (303 Gay St. Cambridge, MD) on May 4 from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. There will be spring-themed activities and a goat your kids can get their picture taken with. Come pet and get your picture taken with a goat, plant a flower, learn about bees, and more.

This event is free, and registration is not required. If you need reasonable accommodation to participate in either of these UME events, please get in touch with Erica or Emily at the UME Dorchester County office at 410-228-8800 by April 19.

Join the University of Maryland Extension Dorchester County Master Gardeners on April 30th at 5:00 p.m. at the Cambridge Library (303 Gay St. Cambridge, MD) to learn the basics of growing tomatoes. Come learn the ins and outs of this favorite summer vegetable crop. What varieties are best for our area? What is the difference between a hybrid and a heirloom tomato? Why do need to cage them? What is a tomato sucker and how do you remove them?

University of Maryland Extension mental health specialist Alexander Chan explores the "Farm State of Mind" during the final Sustainable Food Systems lecture next week on Tuesday, April 23 at 6pm.

University of Maryland is the place to be for Maryland Day 2024! This will be the 99th annual Ag Day and this year we're excited for our very first AGNR Alumni Chill Zone in the Animal Science Courtyard!

Join us on Ag Day Avenue to visit the Campus Farm and take in a livestock show with our students. Drop by the Animal Science courtyard to see our college in full force with clubs, departments, and Extension programs. Grab a plant from the Institute of Applied Agriculture or from the Plant Science Building. McKeldin Mall will feature Maryland 4-H and there's an Extension catfish cooking demo at Hornbake Plaza.

AGNR faculty and staff are invited to the 2024 State of the College and Cornerstone Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, May 8 at 9:00am at the Riggs Alumni Center. The Cornerstone Awards serves to recognize an AGNR faculty or staff member or an external partner in actively promoting awareness of one of the Strategic Initiatives who demonstrates innovation, and provides a model for others in the college.

The 7th-grade students of Queen Anne’s County Public Schools are invited to participate in a once-in-a-lifetime educational experience to learn about Maryland’s number one industry, agriculture. As our population continues to grow, agriculture is crucial for our survival; therefore, a coalition of agricultural educators and professionals join together to host an educational experience for all 7th-grade students across our county.

Attend an event about Accessible Public Spaces and Gardens with Michelle Nelson, Wen Huang, and Chin-Fang Chen from the Maryland National Capital Parks and Planning.

This carefully curated schedule of events is solely dedicated to topics related to sustainability and the role of agriculture in environmental, social, and economic issues, with a heavy emphasis on the food we consume in our everyday lives. The series is part of our strategic initiative, Establish a Healthy Food System and Ensure Global Food and Nutritional Security. This year's theme is Mental and Physical Health.

The delightful hum of lawnmowers is right around the corner. Soon we’ll be tackling all of those outdoor tasks that have been calling our names during the cold winter months. As we transition into warmer days, our 2024 summer “Ask A Master Gardener Plant Clinics” will be traveling around the county to various events and open houses. This is a great opportunity to have Master Gardeners help with all your questions about gardening, from garden pests, to plant problems, to selecting the perfect native plants, and beneficial insects. Master Gardeners will be on hand to give tips and tricks to make your home garden flourish, help troubleshoot tricky growing situations, and offer encouragement on creating the perfect garden for your space. These events are free and open to the public.
