Learn about selecting native plant species for the growing environment, how native seeds have adapted to different growing conditions, and engage in sowing seeds for the winter. Each participant will bring home 2-3 four-inch pots with native seeds. This class will involve a short walk to the Kent Island Community Garden, where participants can collect native seeds as well!

Baltimore City Residents: build your own rain barrel! This hands-on Baltimore City Department of Public Works GROW Center workshop will cover the benefits of harvested rainwater, the setup and steps to installing a successful rain barrel, and how to use the rainwater you harvest. Participants will also learn about the impacts of stormwater runoff by touring the Union Collective's newly constructed wetland project.
All participants will receive a 55-gallon barrel that measures 2' x 3', so please verify that your car can fit the barrel! Please bring ID to verify Baltimore City Residence.
